ok, the ducati was a beautiful bike, but there was a couple of issues i became increasingly unhappy about: the carb setting just didn’t work out, especially in cold and / or wet weather riding the bike was a drag. it was not very comfortable, especially for the one on the back seat, and above 120 kmh the wind pressure was real nasty.
above all that it was getting a bit slow, too.

sorry for the old monster, it had to go (just before the 10.000 km service which also saved me some money).

instead i got the yzf. it is not a ‘real’ supersports bike, but is in the reviews rather referred to as a premier league fast touring machine. our first tests seemed to confirm this assessment: great fairing and excellent seat comfort. the engine was ok, too, with good power if revved, but also a decent delivery at low to mid revs. still, the 600 cc 4-in-line 16 valve dohc engine with about 100 bhp was good for a top speed way above 200 kmh (i did give this a good try on a german highway and found that it did not work well at high speeds). kris probably liked the yzf more than the mille though.

it was fun, even tough the yzf never had the personality of the mille.
funny enough, not the reliability either.
