we’re not quite there yet but getting pretty close.

the bike now has the bigger front tank, the rear tank and the nav tower. the navigational equipment and the electrics are still missing, though. it all works well on the bench but i want to make sure the connections are bullet-proof and will survive the safari.

the bike definitely rides differently with the extra 21 kilo on board. i would not say it ‘steers like a pig’ but it seems to have more of a mind of its own. i took her round some of the singles i like to do, and the only place i really struggled were the whoops; the bike sort of likes to lie into them rather than skip over them.

other than that it was pretty smooth running, even up and down some of the snotty stuff, and the quick blast through bush went pretty well too.

i’m still uncomfortable with the routing of some of the fuel lines, and i have not put in the dry breaks either. but i am happy with the front tank, it’s not any wider or more obtrusive than the stock part, a pretty good effort there i must say. the rear tank kicked me in the but a few times, but stayed out fo the way.

the suspension is great though; throw all the extra weight at it and it still works – amazing.

one more month before the little girl starts her journey to perth.
