<\/p>\nthis is the only picture of my bike i could find. it is also significant in another way: this was the last race where i was wearing this helmet. the reason is not that i did not like it; i rather fancied the silver & orange. even more sad then that the helmet did actually not survive the race. there was this little jump, and i got off the gas a little sooner than i should have … and there i was on the floor with a cracked helmet, a broken rib and a seriously bent handlebar.<\/p>\n
back to the bike: honda did not change a lot on the bike over the years. the main features pretty much stayed the same for many years: the heavy and slow-revving engine, the soft suspension, the steep tank.<\/p>\n
i bought it in hungary and at the time it was not registered. financially it was a good deal but i spent an inordinate amount of time at various official buildings and learnt a lot about how many ways there are to get forms wrong.<\/p>\n

the honda was heavy, with a lot of weight on the front wheel. the steep tank did not allow for a lot of forward movement into corners, and for some reason i never quite figured out the bike really liked following ruts. dangerous on occasions.<\/p>\n
the honda was my entry ticket to enduro racing, but i was quite happy to\u00a0exchange her for a ktm, the lc4 600, as a matter of fact. and while the 600 was quite an old concept by the time i got it, it was lightyears ahead of the honda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
