the roof is on! and just in time, too, the solar people will start on monday and – if everything goes to plan – finish the following day. the somewhat unexpected if very welcome progress today was due to the favourable weather, with no wind, only a few drops of rain and overcast skies making work on the dark coloured roof bearable.
there is still a bit of work left to get the roof ready: currently the sheets are held on with a minimum number of screws and before the panels can go on that work will have to be completed. the flashing will have to be installed, too, but peter thinks he will be able to work around the edges while the solar installers do their thing on the flat section of the roof. just to add to the confusion i am planning to install the stormwater connections to the tanks.
i’m relieved that this is done now. the windows are in as well (except for the upstairs window in kris’ compartment) and the roller doors have been installed yesterday.
it’s good to finally have a place where we can store our tools and equipment. we’ll also have a small fridge, a few chairs, a bench and a table and of course the toilet so we can comfortably stay on the property while we work.
time to move in. i have some interested tenants: a tractor, an excavator and a trailer are all looking for a permanent place to stay. i can also think of a chain saw and a whipper snipper wanting to get out of the rain.
btw the sunrise was spectacular today. sometimes it pays to get up early.
