the nav tower is almost ready.

i bent a new carrier plate out of 3mm alu sheet. and while it is better than the one i used at the condo i will make another one: there is a bit too much room between the imo and the roadbook. by modifying the carrier i will be able to run the imo a bit lower and hopefully it will be less at risk in the case of a crash.

i relocated the fuse box too. it used to sit at the back of the carrier but was not really accessible there. now it is easy to see and fix any problems. let’s hope there won’t be too many; there is no load on the electrics, it’s really mostly about reliability and how quick and easy it is to detect and fix problems.

the longer of the two switches toggles power to the imo and the roadbook, the smaller one switches the roadbook illumination on and off.

on the right side is the imo connector box. i have slightly relocated it; it now sits a little further out so i can open it more easily should i have to. the cables are nicely tucked away.

looking good. as i said i’d like the imo to sit a little lower.

that’s what i’ll see.

i’ll make a few other little changes, just to ensure the best possible protection of all parts from the elements, vibration, chafing. 7 days is a long time.
