except we aren’t coming. or more to the point: we are but we decided to make a little detour. natalie was enrolled in another ‘gravity girls’ clinic for sunday, so we packed the car, put the bikes on the rack and went on our merry way – what’s a mere 600 km to us these days. shortly after goulburn, not quite half way, we received a call from a very nice gentleman from the thredbo resort who said he was very sorry but the clinic was cancelled due to the amount of snow the resort had received over the last few days. we checked the snow cams and sure enough it did look a little less green than we would have expected given it’s late november. summer is supposed to start in a week!

anyway, we decided to stop over in canberra for a few days (the business world would call this agility) until at least the gale force winds go and ruin someone else’s ride. we can deal with a bit of snow, that’s actually a good challenge, but if it’s blowing like it was today the lifts won’t work and that really takes the fun out of riding in thredbo. luckily the guys at our accommodation were happy to rebook our stay – they must have thought we were mad to begin with.

canberra is not looking particularly inviting either at this point but kris says it will be better tomorrow. one can only hope. did i mention summer starts in a week? oh well ….

ps: last time natalie participated in a gravity girls clinic it was snowing, too. in january! maybe we should ask the resort to pay natalie to stay away in summer, looks like she attracts unseasonal snowfall. it would be interesting to test how that plays out in winter.
