things are starting to shape up inside the house: all the cavity slider cavities are in place, doorways and required bracing have been installed, and most of the tools and materials are now being stored in the house, rather than in unsightly stacks around it.
as a result the container has moved on to bigger & most likely much better things, and most remaining loose pieces have been consolidated into a smaller pile, out of the way. time to address some of those massive rock piles and for general earth moving around the site. we got a little help again, this time in the shape of a tiny skid steer; it may not be as precise or powerful as an excavator, but it definitely moves a lot faster than one.
we’ll have a few days of rain (again! – but generally we don’t cop it as bad as the guys in sydney), so once we had all the top soil sorted out kris got a bit of grass seed on the newly shaped areas.
i know, it doesn’t look like much has changed …
two years ago the same spot looked like this, and a day’s work did not appear to make even a small dent in all the wild growth. it has been a very long journey … and it isn’t over yet, not by a long stretch. but it’s great to see that is is starting to look more like we thought it could.
