i’ve been very happy with the nomad c. very. really, there is not reason not to be happy with a mountain bike that can go up anywhere pretty well and can give most other bikes a run for their money on the way down.

but … technology moves on. 3×9 drive trains are well and truly out of fashion (i converted the nomad c to a 1×9 a while back), 26″ wheels are not longer used and it gets more and more difficult to find proper tyres in the shops, long stems are only used on xc bikes … i could go on.

still, i could not justify the cost of a new bike when the old one was still  more than up to the task. then i found a used nomad cc frame online (ok, i admit i had been looking – a bit) and got a good deal on it.

so here is my new (to me) nomad cc in the typical miami vice colours  (hence: enduglo). i bought a few other items from the previous owner: the rock shox pike rc3 fork, the rock shox dropper post, the sram x01 11 speed drive train and the enve bars. the hope m4 brakes came off the small nomad that’s hanging in the garage. the 27″ syntace w35 wheels are new.

my first impression: very aggressive position, much more stretched. the shorter stem in combination with the wide (780 mm) bars gives more direct control over the steering and the 27″ wheels and the 11 speed drivetrain it works really well on climbs.

on the way down it is even a step above the old nomad c due to the aggressive riding position, the excellent suspension and the new geometry with the slack head angle and long wheel base.

i love it.

btw: the nomad c is now kris’ bike … and she loves it too!
