after i had replaced all the bearings i thought it would be a 5 minute job to put it all together again. i was wrong.
this is one of the axle bolts through the lower links. they both look pretty much the same: ruined threads. not sure what happened here, but someone must have damaged the threads of the inserts in the frame and those in turn chewed up the bolts.

… but something must be wrong here.
good thing i got new bolts coming from santa cruz (the local bike shop that sells sc naturally does not carry any spares) but i also need an m15 x 1.0 tap to try and clean up the thread before i insert the new bolts or else they could suffer the same fate. and the m15 is not a typical size of course so i got one on order.
until then there is no riding …
