christmas came early this year. kris and i were just running some errands – like booking snowflake in for a little surgery – when we found a little pallet sitting on our doorstep.
i was not expecting anything. least of all from the people in ballina who are otherwise known for building tiny apartments on wheels. i did recall asking them for a few parts but they told me i’d have to wait a couple of weeks while they probably installed self composting toilets into pre-coffins for grey nomads.
grey. exactly. the grey water tank for our own little pre-coffin. with pre-installed in- and outlets, a massive plate protecting the underside (fair enough) and an equally impressive one protecting the top. that’s a bit of a puzzle, but hey, it’s really well made so i take it. it’s also got 6 massive stainless steel bolts and from a quick look under the van i can sort of tell where they go. however, the gentlemen in northern new south wales (yes there is such a thing) decided not to provide any further instructions. it’s all a test: are you worthy? can you become one with the van? put the k in the karavan? or the grey water into the tank without spilling it?
i accept the challenge.
ps: i am also really thankful they sent me the stuff well ahead of schedule, i should have enough time to sort it all out. and i did know that it did not come with instructions, that just adds to the fun.
