nat was really excited about being back on the bike and she clearly showed us she hadn’t forgotten anything either. it’s like riding a bike, right? of course being the expert she has become she pointed out that in order to be even faster the bike needed to be tweaked … just a little. and who am i to argue with a suggestion to upgrade a bike.

natalie’s birthday and christmas are coming up fast but not quite fast enough to prepare the bike for the cannonball festival in thredbo.

i hope there is no rule against handing over xmas / birthday presents ahead of time. this is improvement number one: the dropper post. press a button, push down on the seat and when you go downhill there is no danger of getting hit in the back by it. push the button again and the seat comes back up for perfect pedalling height. every enduro bike must have one of those. it’s true.

and before you ask: she takes sometimes takes that hat off …

it’s a tight fit since nat’s legs are just about long enough to reach past the fully extended dropper. close enough is good enough. now we don’t have to stop anymore before we drop in after a pedally section. no more stops!

mountain bikers are social creatures and what better way to share you latest adventures and achievements than by uploading the data to strava: strava is sort of the instagram of mountain biking. until now nat used her phone to record the data which made me nervous – sooner or later a stack would wipe out the phone no matter how deeply in the backpack it tries to hide (i am sure murphy has a law about that).

so now she has a bike computer. continuous improvement here we come.
