it was a little slow getting to this point but it looks like we’re rolling now. on monday things were still looking a bit unchanged: a slab, by now properly seasoned and literally as hard as stone. bits and pieces made of rolled mild steel, hopefully cut to the appropriate lengths. at this point the packaging looked a little seasoned as well, but it’s the contents that count, and those are galvanised.

the guys started on monday morning, all two of them. it was a hot day, too, but they got stuck right into it. mostly a serious amount of measuring (always twice) and drilling (obviously only once). important preparatory work of course, but unfortunately not much in terms of visible progress.

unless you count the scaffolding and the ladders. we had important mountain biking to do on tuesday and wednesday, a visit to derby to help our friends tash and al celebrate their honeymoon, not something anyone should have to do without appropriate support. coming back we were in for a surprise.

lo & behold, it’s taking shape. and it’s … not small. i admit it looks strange with the steep pitched roof, but it’s a power plant first, and a nice big machine shed second. quite amazing what two guys can get done in such a short time, but it’s still going to take a little while until we have a proper shed.

it can’t take too long, though, the installation of the panels & batteries is booked in for the end of the month.
